Our traffic management course features hands-on training to ensure traffic controllers are “Road Ready” and provides multiple situations used to ensure an understanding of the dangers road workers face to maximise safety at job sites. The course provides the required competency to implement traffic management plans and control traffic on public roads with a stop-slow bat.
This course covers the following aspects:
- Introduction to Traffic Management
- Regulations and legislation
- Understanding traffic management plans
- Roles and responsibilities associated with traffic management
- Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS)
- Signs and Devices
- Emergencies
- Communication protocols and signalling
- Working with road users
- Controlling, directing and monitoring traffic flow
- Set up and close down of traffic guidance schemes
Course outcome:
On successful completion of this program, students will receive via email a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop/slow bat & RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans. Students will also receive a wallet card for the units RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop/slow bat & RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans.

Participants must:
- Wear steel capped safety boots, long sleeve shirt and long pants.
- Have the ability to fully participate in practical training and assessment including walking, bending, lifting, using tools and equipment.
- Be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English to be appropriate for entry to this course.
